Among other things, the agreement stipulates the annexation of up to 30 percent of the West Bank. The coalition government is thus aggressively pursuing the annexation of parts of the West Bank. These efforts have been supported and promoted by US President Donald Trump, whose so-called „Deal of the Century“ peace plan provides the blueprint for the desired annexation. The US plan, which was coordinated with the Israeli government, but not negotiated with the Palestinians, represents the final departure from the Oslo Peace Process and from valid UN resolutions by the US-government. Annexation, like the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land that has been ongoing for over 50 years, is illegal under international law and endangers any political solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. We would like to talk with our discussion participants about Israel’s annexation plans, the prospects for the region and the responsibilities of the German government. The event will be held in English.
